ABOUT THE WONDER TALES
Join me and the spectacular Noel Harron for a rambunctious evening of storytelling and song! If you’re into Victorian steampunk, if the idea of ‘The Good Old Days meets The Rocky Horror Show’ raises a wry smile, or if you’re a fan of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge, The Wonder Tales will be right up your street.

The stories in the show are original, dark faerie tales or quirky, radical re-tellings, and they’re all set locally [North Coast of Northern Ireland and Donegal]. The Wonder Tales is a timely reminder that storytelling is for adults too – and that we live in times in which we’ve never needed storytelling more.

Show, stories and songs written by: Jane Talbot

Jane has completed two writing commissions for Big Telly [A Quirky Tale of Quality Streets – December 2017 and Operation Elsewhere – June 2018] and has been commissioned to write a third piece [The In-between Place] in 2019Noel Harron, actor, theatre-maker, storyteller and singer-songwriter. Other Storytelling Performances:
Jane’s One-Woman Storytelling Show [Aspects Festival, Northern Ireland, September 2017] ‘The art of oral storytelling is alive and vibrant in the hands of Jane Talbot. An hour of her tale-telling is to be captivated by beguiling physical comedy as well as nuanced language. This is theatre, intrigue, laughter and warmth, conjured up from one wonderful woman’s brain.’ Inga Hamilton.

An Afternoon of Ghost Stories and Tall Tales [Jane Talbot and Noel Harron, The Grand Opera House, Belfast, Northern Ireland, December 2017] Riveting, that’s the only way that can describe a recent afternoon spent in the company of Jane Talbot and Noel Harron in The Grand Opera House’s Baby Grand Theatre because they are great storytellers with contrasting, complementary styles.

Jane Talbot is both flamboyant and dramatic. She tells completely original tales born out of a vivid imagination while incorporating motifs gleaned from local folklore.

Noel Harron is equally entrancing, but quieter and softer in his approach. He provides the comfort found in beautifully-told old familiar tales.

Time spent in the company of Jane Talbot and Noel Harron is memorable. Ideas, words, phrases and questions stick in the mind which is the essence of a great performance worthy of a 5-star review.’ Doreen McBride, author, folklorist and storyteller.
