Storytelling, Readings & Talks

‘Jane spent the morning telling stories to five different classes, from the Nursery pupils to eleven year olds. Her stories were incredibly well told and wonderfully fascinating – the children were absolutely captivated!’ Sarah Mannion, Ardvreck School, Perthshire, Scotland.

‘The art of oral storytelling is alive and vibrant in the hands of Jane Talbot. An hour of her tale-telling is to be captivated by beguiling physical comedy as well as nuanced language. This is theatre, intrigue, laughter and warmth, conjured up from one wonderful woman’s brain.’ Inga Hamilton [Aspects Festival 2017]

I love telling stories 🙂 .  I also love reading from The Faerie Thorn & Other Stories and talking about the importance of place, folklore and the oral tradition in my work. If you’d like me to come along to your school, library, festival or workplace, do get in touch!

You can find out where to catch me at a live event here, and you can find out more about the courses and coaching programmes I offer here.

Faerie Trail PortstewartVisit the Faerie Trail at Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart!
In June 2016, I was commissioned by Big Telly Theatre Company to write 6 locally-based faerie tales and perform them in primary schools in the Coleraine area. The pupils worked with Elaine Taylor [a talented visual artist] to design homes for the faeries in each story. Men from local Men Sheds turned the designs into real faerie houses. The houses can be found in the grounds of Flowerfield Arts Centre: just pop into reception and ask for a map to help you find your way around the trail.
